Do people think they’re going to win an arms race with their neighbors, the police, the military? NRA simply exploits fear to rake in cash. School shootings and mass shootings etc. don’t trouble them. In fact they exploit tragedies for more $$$

12 to about 45 rounds per minute on an AR 15 by an unskilled shooter versus 2 rounds per minute on a musket. This is not even a comparison.
