Sometimes I think we're led by sociopaths projecting their lack of humanity onto the world. Then I think they're just stunted children who are in way over their heads and have no idea how to be adults. Then I think it's our fault for electing them. Then I remember all 3 are true.

I don't know about the third one. Our democracy is far too flawed to justify placing blame on the public.

Way too many people left electoral politics to others. You can’t blame the media or even gerrymandering etc. entirely for that.

As much as I have always shared this frustration, I can't help but empathize with people who feel that it isn't worth their mental energy to engage, especially when so much of their energy just goes into survival under capitalism, and when our politics are so corrupted.

Yeah as frustrating as politics is it’s a fundamentally immoral position to disengage completely
