I’m so sorry. I hate to start your day with this...
Soldiers mobilized to DC to quell George Floyd protests were issued BAYONETS. Some had no training at all in riot response. Was the US Army prepared to skewer American protestors? This news is horrendous and incredibly disturbing.

Yeah, they are standard issue. And the common sense to just not take it is pretty frowned upon in the military. I learned that pretty quickly during my service. They want followers not leaders.

No!! They’re standard issue for the military in WAR - not for domestic policing! That’s the point! The militarization of domestic policing is a danger to our democracy.

I'm pretty sure soldiers are just issued these and they are a piece of gear that sits in their bag. Were they actually using them?

We’re they “using” them?! Uh, nooo! But they’re not just “sitting in a bag” somewhere.

Dumb ... Dumb ... Dumb ... That's what happened at Kent State ... The National Guard was issured "live rounds" with practically no training ... there should be no rifles ... and no bayonets ... If you have them ... you might use them ... these are Americans ... not the Taliban!

What a PR nightmare for the military. While they try to reach out to all young Americans about what a career in the military offers they end up alienating a large chunk of their audience.

I'll give DC 2 choices, they can let IBEW Wirenuts run things better than last 40 years, or we can have lights on? :)
