I’ve felt for a long time there’s a way to handle the confederate statue issue in a positive way.1) Remove the statues and store them in a museum somewhere, & 2) Have local & national contests for contemporary artists to replace them in the places where they once stood. #artheals

Most of these statues have no value and are not worth storing in a museum. Museums don't have unlimited resources to spend on storing and preserving garbage just so we don't upset the right-wing snowflakes.

Better idea.... Auction off the statues to who or whatever wants to buy them (I guarantee people would) and use the money to builds schools / libraries / youth centers instead.

I had seen in my feed someone talking about having them put 8n museums that discuss America's toxic and at times codependent relationship on slavery

Excellent idea Marianne! Agree with museum for education! Especially a National Museum for Reparations - there could be a graveyard garden...and photo book with history - as a fundraiser...with your proposed funding would have been possible. Art contest - super idea, too.

They are a part of our history ... and history belongs in our museums!

I've agreed with this too. I said let's replace them with Pok'emon statues and figures from pop culture because hey, it's awesome!
