20 yrs ago subjects like science, tech, engineering & math (STEM) became emphasized in public schools. But history, civics, government and art are just as important & their de-emphasis in schools has had devastating effects. (There’s a reason why he said “I love the uneducated”)

Correction: in "some" public schools.
That’s stupid. The current pandemic and climate change disasters are because Trump and many of his cult refuse to accept scientific evidence, because they are totally ignorant of the STEM disciplines. You have it all back to front.

As a retiree living in Mexico and have learned to use YouTube as a source of news, learning & entertainment. I’m impressed by young people learning on their own and inventing new things. When asked where did they learn how to do it? They say YouTube & internet. Curiousity is key.

the cornerstone of the western civilization was art and philosophy. I expect the uneducated-loving president only likes uneducated advisers and secretaries including Pompeo, Esper and the late Bolton (thought his latest book may undo his damages.

Of course they’re taught, but not with the same level of support. 11 states don’t even require half a year of civics education. People who don’t learn about the Bill of Rights when they’re children, grow up to be adults who don’t know to be horrified when it’s under assault.
