I understand “defund the police” isn’t the best language, but where was all the outrage when they were defunding education, defunding Headstart, defunding hunger & anti-poverty programs, defunding violence prevention programs, defunding peace projects & defunding social services?

What's wrong with the language? WE DO NOT WANT TO FUND OUR POLICE BEING TRAINED IN ISRAEL. WE DO NOT WANT TO FUND MACHINE GUNS, TEAR GAS, SHIELDS, HELMETS, GRENADES, GUNS, TANKS, ETC. FOR OUR POLICE! Defund is Perfect. If we r not heard, next it will b "abolish" the police.

GOP did those things & called them "fiscal responsibility" & said it til ppl believed it. Dems said little. Leftists called to "Defund Police." So RWng repeated it over & over, trying to scare ppl away fr voting Dem. This is about GOP being far better at messaging than Dems are.

Reboot the police. Split it into 3 or 4 organizations that target specific issues and are armed and trained to deal with those specific issues. The few good people that are currently police could come back as “community guardians” in a smaller, better defined, more humane role.

I’d #DisarmThePolice. Fear, force & violence don’t =peace & trust. In Iceland, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, & most of the UK police don’t carry firearms unless the situation is expected to merit it. Since 1916, NZ Police have used lethal force 40 times. Let’s find better ways.

Trump's fans aren't voting for democrats anyway. He will twist anything to make it something. People are starting in large to understand what this means. Tiptoeing around "the right language" because of Trump is not something I ever want to do. It's direct and to the point.

Don't swallow the stupid "I just don't like the way it sounds/branding" nonsense. People don't like "defund" BECAUSE it is so clear and straightforward. Its much easier to hide doing nothing or the opposite behind more nebulous words like "reform" when defund isn't a slogan.
