I keep thinking about what might have happened to me, a white woman, if I had fallen asleep at a drive-through line at Wendy’s. I think it’s reasonable to assume that given the seriousness of the offense I might have gotten...a ticket.

You don't get "tickets" for DUI, Marianne. You go to jail.

If you’d been drunk or over the legal limit like he was they would have cuffed you in most cases. Assuming you wouldn’t have taken a taser from a cop. Regardless there was ZERO reason for that cop to use deadly force. We need to change how police respond. Very saddening.

If you were intoxicated, you’d be arrested.

Well depends on your response to the cops checking to see if you were driving under the influence. Would you have resisted arrest ? Stolen the officers taser gun ? Then run away and stop and pointed it at the officers ? Then the result would’ve probably been the same

Nah, you would have gotten a "Are you okay? Have a good night. Get home safe." pep talk !

No I think an employee would have come out and said "mam, mam? are you OK?"

Probably because you wouldn’t have fought with cops and taken one of their weapons and used it on them after running from said cops.

30 yrs ago, I fell asleep outside of a f/ food place. Not in line - just right in front of a 24 hr place. Traveling. I’d been working hard - on the road. A LE officer woke me up. I was mortified! He: Are you OK? Me: (Immediately,) Yes, sir! He watched as I drove away. Whew!

RE: Police Interactions: Also important: If you become inebriated, don’t get behind the wheel. When we’ve had too many, it’s hard to judge that it was too many. Teaching your young adults that they need to limit themselves is crucial! #DrunkDriving
