I keep thinking about what might have happened to me, a white woman, if I had fallen asleep at a drive-through line at Wendy’s. I think it’s reasonable to assume that given the seriousness of the offense I might have gotten...a ticket.

The key is #behaving properly. Yes, sir. No, sir. Yes, ma’am. No, ma’am. Ask if you can reach to get your ID. No sudden movements. Let the officer direct you! Teaching your son or daughter this is as important as teaching times tables, the 50 states, & learning to drive.
