I keep thinking about what might have happened to me, a white woman, if I had fallen asleep at a drive-through line at Wendy’s. I think it’s reasonable to assume that given the seriousness of the offense I might have gotten...a ticket.

Stop being unhelpful. If you were also drunk, resisted arrest and then tried to taze the cop you would be going to prison. The reason you probably wouldn’t get shot is that you aren’t strong enough to put fear in the cop, who is only a human.

I agree ☝️. But you also likely wouldn’t have wrestled with the cops and stolen their taser. I’m not excusing the killing at all, it’s appaling and should never have happened. Cops aren’t trained properly.

They say he wasn't even asleep in the line in the first place. He was asleep parked in a parking spot.

I think the police tried that over and over.... let’s be true to the facts
Here on Maui, you would have gotten a DUI—but not to despair, the cop might have offered to throw his testimony if you spent *quality* time with him. True story.

So I wanted to put something on my sign as a message of my anger... I instead read a few pages of your book and took another route, peace. I was listening to CCR and throwing peace signs, even when I was screamed at, standing alone, God was with me. I am changed

No you would have been given a field sobriety test and arrested. They needlessly killed that young man but there's no reason for you to throw that nonsense out there Marianne. You're better than that.

Would you have refused the sobriety test, stole his taser, turned pointed it at the cop?

would you have stolen a tazer, fired at the cop, and ran away?
A Wendy's employee would likely have tapped on your window, asked if you were OK, asked if you could pull over to let other cars pass and maybe bring you a cup of coffee.
