In the interest of his country, Mark Zuckerberg should shut down Facebook until after the election. We lived without it before and we can survive a few months without it. So might our democracy. #FacebookTakeABreak

I understand the sentiment but this is a bad idea. Millions of legitimate business people make their living in whole or in part through advertising on Facebook.

I don’t think anyone can argue that data mining is being used for nefarious purposes. Conversely it is also an intrinsic part of our economy. Everyone from single mothers to small businesses use it as a driver for income. Shutting down Facebook would be economically disastereous.

And the tooth fairy stole my homework.

I’m not sure what this means but if you think regular hard-working people aren’t utilizing Google and Facebook to make an honest living, you’d be very wrong. We’re talking about millions of people and families. To dismiss them out of hand would be pretty repulsive.
