Militarizing the police was inevitable as war became such a lucrative business. Defense contractors are always convincing the Pentagon that last year’s model of military gear isn’t good enough & they need new ones. “Why don’t you just send the old equipment to the boys at home?”

Militarization of the police had two parents. The mother was the War on Drugs. The father was the Patriot Act.

Meanwhile, when my unit shipped out to Kuwait in 2003 for OIF, we begged police depts for their old kevlar to protect our own troops. & our uniforms matched Poland, not the desert. What good thing has all this intel & mass spending gotten for us? Debt, pain and more enemies.
