1/ That all people are equal and deserve an equal right to actualize their dreams is a radical proposition, as much now as it was 200 years ago. Everything we do to support people’s ability to thrive promotes a more peaceful and productive society.

2/ But our public policies work too often in direct opposition to that goal. Public policy guided by support for short term corporate profits - due to the undue financial influence of the corporate sector - is the opposite of policy guided by an intention to help people thrive.

3/ Yet people who have been so disempowered cannot expect the same political establishment that disempowered them to simply change its mind. It won’t. The corruption is too entrenched at this point. The only way that things will change is if we change the face of Washington. VOTE

Absolutely. But we have to vote in the people who will change that. The House passed a good law to do it -HR 1 -but it won’t pass because Republicans are still in charge of the Senate. That’s the whole point. Vote as if your life depended on it; your democracy certainly does.

That’s voting too. But voting progressives into Congress is hugely important as well. So many people being disengaged from the process is part of how things got so bad. Progressivecandidatesummit.c… has some good suggestions
