I’m all for disbanding police departments as they now exist but we need to remember a piece of history. When the US invaded Iraq we disbanded their army, and those former army forces created ISIS. The last thing we need is thousands of angry excops forming a militia of their own.

The US invaded Iraq+installed a predominately Shiite power which caused discrimination+further segregation between the troops. ISIS was originally called ‘Al Qaeda in Iraq’, ironically another terrorist group the CIA funded until they turned around and bared their fangs at us.

There will still be police. The community based model sees police operating in a specific community in a decentralized way. You will know your officer, he or she will know you. They will be invested, and accountable.
