There you have it, folks. That’s it right there.
The NYPD’s budget is $6,000,000,000 That’s more than the city spends on health, homelessness, youth development and workforce development combined.

Six million dollars for Police ... that's huge ... Imagine the good that money could do if it were redirected ... into social workers, legal advocates, healthcare, etc. and just put a fraction of that amount into a very small police organization ... and leave off the word (force)

I live in NYC for almost 10 years, live in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens. Use public transportation and more. The level of point of security and the ways that the city prevent terrorism. There is always room from improving but let's not forget that NYC is a permanent target. 1/2

The sad thing is that most police officers are underpaid relative to the risk. We need to increase pay, increase education, increase training and perhaps the most important, increase screening new recruits. As if that’s not enough, the current temperature culture needs changing

Why are they always pulling people over, hiding in bushes to catch people “speeding”, ticketing citizens as much as possible to meet a “quota” all to bridge a funding gap, so they say. What does defunding do to citizen harassment? #scaredofpolice #DefundThePolice
