Mayors are elected by the people, and the police are not. This is an important phenomenon going on now: Mayors confronting police when they go rogue. It takes personal courage for them to do that and we should applaud them when they do. topbuzz.com/article/i6835246…

Mayors hire the police commissioner. Mayors can replace at a moments notice. Sheriff could also step in and establish peace and instruct the police in how to deal with the people. Only territories, military installations and the District have no sheriff.

Lack of economic opportunity breeds resentment for many. It leaves people pointing fingers, angry and blaming. Economic hardship directly contributes to the hate and anger. End Economic Hardship and Poverty the pay off is no more crime or disease and the associated costs.

Lori Lightfoot is not the right person to be commending. She has been assisting CPD in their brutalization and apprehension of protestors.
