1/ A fraction of work done by police require guns & the use of brute force. Vast majority of it would better be done by social workers, non-violent communicators and citizen patrols. We should stop mocking such ideas as ridiculous and instead start asking how to make them happen.

2/ Police training today, in addition to being ridiculously short compared to other countries, involves no real peace-keeping skills. Our police need to schooled in the ways of soul force & in a much different kind of brute force. They need to be actual "keepers of the peace."

3/ For so much less money than we now spend on police, we could create conditions that prevent societal pathology in the first place. This is why, domestically and internationally, America needs a Department of Peace. Ideas once deemed silly are now recognized as urgently needed.

JUST had this conversation this morning. We need to talk about why we DO want police, if any, and why, and how those roles need to change to Actually serve and protect citizens rather than being a militarized arm of corporate/fascist control

Teaching that there is "a better way" that can practically de-escalate any seeming situation can be very inspiring. It leaves everyone feeling empowered and heard. Perhaps Marianne this is the Way you can best demonstrate right now. Many blessings <3

Particularly the part where you never know which situation is going to turn out to require use of force. We all know you have special powers to see these things, but how do you transmit that to the 911 call center employees?
