So about those mayors that we all thought were pretty socially enlightened guys. Is it that they were lying the whole time, or that they themselves are scared and are basically incapable of controlling their police forces? Trying to figure this one out.

IMO weโ€™re seeing that the real power in the biggest cities are real estate developers; the mega investors, who buy the properties; and the police who defend that property. Mayors are not actually that powerful and recent events donโ€™t let them pretend that they are powerful.
