So about those mayors that we all thought were pretty socially enlightened guys. Is it that they were lying the whole time, or that they themselves are scared and are basically incapable of controlling their police forces? Trying to figure this one out.

I’ve been thinking about this too and so can come up with few suggestions: 1. The fraternal order of police is very powerful and protects their own. 2. Populism on the left is just as ineffective at actual governing as populism on the right. Case in point is Mayor Frey.
