So about those mayors that we all thought were pretty socially enlightened guys. Is it that they were lying the whole time, or that they themselves are scared and are basically incapable of controlling their police forces? Trying to figure this one out.

If they鈥檙e scared to do their job, then they need to resign. If they鈥檙e lying about who and what they stand for, then they need to resign or be ousted. When are you going to use your power, Marianne?

They are devoid of principles, of convictions. They are political chameleons, able to say the right things, able to tow the party line and use ambiguous words so they sound progressive. They carry a fragile neo-liberal shell, empty on the inside, that shatters under pressure.

Anti racism is a difficult policy for anyone, especially POCs to carry out. So much of it is rooted in power structures that you rely on to govern, the police, the courts, etc etc. Anti racism is a radical agenda. That is why we cannot tolerate people who are soft on these issues

I would go with the lying scenario.
