Just in case anyone out there might be even for a second confused about this, let’s remember that soldiers at war are trained to destroy an enemy while domestic police theoretically are trained to serve and protect our citizens.

Those lines are blurred.

What are you trained for?

Beautifully articulated 🙏👮‍♀️🙏

Indeed. We need to protect ALL of our citizens, so we make laws intended to control social conduct and protect property rights. If somebody violates those laws, we give permission to law enforcement to act by set rules using weapons of force. This is true for riot control as well

You say the police are "trained to serve and protect our citizens". Protect from whom? terrorists? vandals? criminals? riots? If the mayor issues a curfew after riots, and the crowd disobeys the police, what does the official instruction manual say do do? Who is in charge?

Imagine a mayor who is there to serve and protect. But he sympathises with a group of communist vandals who smash windows and looting stores. His daughter is caught throwing rocks at police. He berates the police and gives sloppy orders during riots. Which citizens is he serving?
Tell Donnie... he's completely confused and his GOP buddies aren't straightening him out either.
