Yes, for many many years. White people have just never noticed because they weren’t the targets. And if they did notice, they were sure the beating victim must have done something to deserve it. It never occurred to them that the Ku Klux Klan just went underground as cops.

They're terrified. Multiple officers have been killed. Molotov cocktails are being thrown at cruisers with officers inside. They've been abandoned by politicians. There's a target on their back. Of course they are on edge. Try to walk a mile in their shoes.
