So when various mayors say they truly understand and respect peaceful protesters - yet then their own police get violent toward those protesters - does this mean the mayors do not have control of their police forces? Actions speak louder than words.

They are lying. $$Business comes first, human rights last. Proof? #chicago is closed down today. Only essential workers allowed to come into the city. CTA buses, METRA train running only limited service

I guess they think they need to protect businesses and property and will have to account for their decisions afterwards to business owners. It's just now, this is only happening because ppl aren't willing to be expendable resources anymore. People are more valuable than property.
