1/ Churchill said “you can always count on Americans to do the right thing, after they’ve exhausted every other option.” We’re often late waking up to a problem enough to do anything about it, but once we do we slam it like nobody’s business.

2/ Yes it’s true that people are coming in from the fringes to sow chaos for their own purposes, but we shouldn’t let that blind us to the fact that America is experiencing a spontaneous eruption of moral outrage. The protests at their core are an expression of legitimate fury.

3/ Our political establishment completely failed to take on issues of systemic economic, criminal & environmental injustice toward black Americans. People have every reason to think that nothing short of mass protests would get the establishment’s attention. This changes the game

4/ Any Congressman or Senator who isn't concerned about what this means isn't understanding what's happening. They will step up now - and no, not just to "condemn" police brutality but to STOP police brutality, and mean it - or the system will be rocked in ways we've never seen.

5/ In the final analysis the people are in charge. All we have to do is remember that and America will find its way. We have to continue to protest. Continue to speak up. Continue to run for office. And continue to vote. We can't give up even for a minute. It's a patriot's duty.
