1/ As an older woman, I’d like to share my memories of a time when America was this chaotic before. The Kennedys and Dr. King and the students at Kent State had all been killed. There were riots and cities burned.

2/ The grief & frustration & anger were off the charts. It felt as though the country would never get through it. And I share this for a reason: we did get through it. And we will get through this. This time too is sad. It is painful. It is infuriating. And we will get through it

3/ As angry as I feel sometimes toward those who destroy I’m overwhelmed with love towards those who love. Yes there are serious threats in our midst. But millions are rising up as well, displaying the heart & intelligence of who we really are. It’s a time to pray & a time to act

4/ Always remember: Love will win. But it needs our hands and it needs our feet. It needs our words and it needs our actions. It’s not just that we need love right now. More importantly, love needs us. Think deeply. Pray hard. Show up. Amen.

Getting through is is not enough this time! We must force change we cannot continue on the current path of corporate owned fascism

We didn’t get through it. We simply managed to sweep it under the rug for a few years. Until you address the problem, the symptoms continue to reappear. I grew up in the 60’s. Some things never change. This is one of them

Wrong. What we did was get back to the way things already were. We are feeling "grief & frustration & anger" because people want us to "get through it." We do not want to "get through it," we want change. We want safety. We want prosecution for those who murder us.

I was just revisiting my memories of that time with my LOML and there was more structure still in place to hold people accountable. Despite blatant lawlessness, laws and norms mattered when they were broken, so this is scarier in my view..I hope I’m wrong #NoJusticeNoPeace

We don't want to "get through it". That's what got us here! These state sponsored terror killings are going to persist until a new system is installed. Revolution is absolutely necessary.

But we didn’t “get thru it”. We voted in Reagan who, with some of the same ilk that are running this government today, began this horrible destruction of our country

Marianne, the events of ‘68 eventually helped lead us to the neoliberal consensus and the mess that we have today. I’m not sure simply getting through it will be enough.
