1/ As an older woman, I’d like to share my memories of a time when America was this chaotic before. The Kennedys and Dr. King and the students at Kent State had all been killed. There were riots and cities burned.

2/ The grief & frustration & anger were off the charts. It felt as though the country would never get through it. And I share this for a reason: we did get through it. And we will get through this. This time too is sad. It is painful. It is infuriating. And we will get through it

3/ As angry as I feel sometimes toward those who destroy I’m overwhelmed with love towards those who love. Yes there are serious threats in our midst. But millions are rising up as well, displaying the heart & intelligence of who we really are. It’s a time to pray & a time to act

4/ Always remember: Love will win. But it needs our hands and it needs our feet. It needs our words and it needs our actions. It’s not just that we need love right now. More importantly, love needs us. Think deeply. Pray hard. Show up. Amen.

I remember that too but we were not in the midst of a pandemic then.

I remember...I was a child, grasping my little sister’s hand as the two of us made our way through crowds at Chicago train station...we finally made it on the train, looked back to see the city burning.

Change is always chaotic. The most vulnerable suffer first and longest. It’s easy to get stirred up and demand change. It’s tough to change the entrenched institutions to work for all the people. Humans are designed to do both. We need to chose to create and defend peace.

I too remember those times. Did we really get through it or did we just take a break from trying? The problems still exist. This time things have to change or nothing will ever improve. It has to be different. The only way to "get through it" is to not give up until we win.

Recovery starts by voting Trump out of the WH in november. Then there will be a lot of forgiving and healing to do. Painful but necessary. I sure hope You succeed!

President Kennedy’s assasination affected a generation; we were hit by psychic bullets as you’ve said. Then we lost Martin and Bobby and John. The most horrific time. And the best music to express it.

Don't forget the pandemic, in which at this same time as the assassinations and the DNC riots, and Vietnam, 1968, you also had 100k Americans door of the flu (1 mil world wide). But no lockdown. Life, albeit brutal, continued.
