1/ As an older woman, I’d like to share my memories of a time when America was this chaotic before. The Kennedys and Dr. King and the students at Kent State had all been killed. There were riots and cities burned.

2/ The grief & frustration & anger were off the charts. It felt as though the country would never get through it. And I share this for a reason: we did get through it. And we will get through this. This time too is sad. It is painful. It is infuriating. And we will get through it

3/ As angry as I feel sometimes toward those who destroy I’m overwhelmed with love towards those who love. Yes there are serious threats in our midst. But millions are rising up as well, displaying the heart & intelligence of who we really are. It’s a time to pray & a time to act

4/ Always remember: Love will win. But it needs our hands and it needs our feet. It needs our words and it needs our actions. It’s not just that we need love right now. More importantly, love needs us. Think deeply. Pray hard. Show up. Amen.

I’m right here with you, as women, born in the 50’s, we’ve seen so much, so much has happened before our eyes. We are all here now, generations must unite to create the progress, the change, the forward thinking, the hope, the love that our nation needs, we the people need now.

We weren’t approaching 30% unemployment then and you could still make a living as a working class laborer. Seems this has potential to be much more chaotic. We also didn’t have 40 years of neoliberal trickle down to contend with either

I beg to differ on that we got through it. I’m 54. Not much has changed at all certainly not on police brutality. It’s worsening.

68 Democratic Convention is so relevant. LBJ didn’t seek re-election. RFK was assassinated. Young people backed Eugene McCarthy who won several primaries. Dem Estab ignored McCarthy’s success and nominated Humphrey. Dem Mayor Daley’s machine brutally attacked protesters.
