I have an argument with a friend where I support free college, Medicare4All, Green New Deal etc. & she tells me we need an "incremental approach;" that such things are "too far left." I tell her they're centrist in Europe. She says "We're not Europe." I bang my head against a wall

My mother in law literally said out loud "That's not who we are" when I said we needed M4A, Green New Deal when I was also making the point that Europe has had universal healthcare for decades. My brain melted.

Tell your friend that if we ended all tax subsides, loopholes, credits, breaks, havens, immunities, exemptions, and deductions for all big businesses, millionaires, & billionaires as well as cut the military defense budget & establish a wealth tax, we can have universal programs.

She's right. Most Americans are centrists (of the American, not European, variety). Isn't there a M4A bill that Sanders wrote in Congress now? It needs 60 votes to pass. It only has 14. Bang your head against a wall all you want; it's not going to get M4A passed.
