They've always bee there. Racism and white supremacy didn't disappear with the end of Jim Crow. There's always been racist cops, judges, lawyers, Doctors and etc. We're here because white people care more about civility than justice.

Of course they’ve always been there. But there was a time when we’d reached a social consensus that they would never be given major levers of power on either Left or Right. Trump has changed that, plus social media has created new platforms.

Sorry Marianne, but they never left the levers of power. Our consensus was not to speak about it in mixed company and to call out blatant racism while white washing our own subtle racism. This consensus guaranteed that no racial justice would ever happen in this country. 1/1
