1/The biggest failure of both our politics & media is that most news analysis is kept on the surface, always dealing with symptom & rarely dealing with cause. It's always talking about the house yet rarely addresses the health of its foundation. In fact the foundation is rotting

2/ If your democracy is under attack, your house is rotting. If your economy is unjust, your house is rotting. If your food and environmental policies literally cause people to be ill, your house is rotting. If your citizens are duped into not seeing this, your house is rotting.

3/ But every problem comes bearing its own solution. It's in the midst of how bad all this is that the miracle is born. People are waking up. People are seeing the rot. People are asking themselves, "Why are we putting up with this?" And from that the necessary changes will come.

The only thing missing from your spot-on three part tweet is a proper ending: vote third party. I have a feeling you will get there eventually. It’s the only logical conclusion.

No it's not the only logical conclusion, not yet. First we have to defeat Trump, then we can appraise the situation.

Okay, so let’s say Biden wins. Then what? 8 more years of Obama-Biden centrism? They aren’t going to do anything to help us. Why would they? We’ve never given them a reason to. We always complain and moan and then vote for them anyway. They own us until we revolt.

Okay, so Biden wins. We begin the very next morning strongly articulating what we want. It will only take a very short time to know whether we're being taken seriously or just pandered to by a Biden administration. THEN we'll know what we need to know - whether to stay or leave.

We already know that, Marianne. We are not being taken seriously. That's why the people's candidate had to be crushed 2x. I've watched politics 40yrs, Ds cld care less abt us. "1st Trump, then we'll see..." is exactly why HRC elevated Trump. They'll continue 'til it stops working

I hear you, but not voting is not going to “teach them a lesson.” If that were the case they would’ve learned it last time. Right now we have nothing short of a fascist threat on our hands. To me, defeating Trump has to come first. The morning after, I respect whatever you decide.

No one was advocating not voting. They were advocating voting third party. Is it your intention to argue that the Howie Hawkins/@AngelaNWalker ticket isn’t a better choice if the progressive movement wants to show we’re serious? What is the endgame in voting for Joe Biden?

For me it shows we’re not serious ENOUGH - about the threat that Trump poses! None of these questions can be considered outside the context of the danger he represents.

Check out Hawkins and @AngelaNWalker platform! It is by far the best

No, @marwilliamson. That didn’t happen last time because WE SHOWED UP in greater numbers than Hillary’s supporters showed up for Obama. And she still lost. And they still blamed us. Trump is not a fascist. He’s a loud-mouthed asshole and a disgrace to the office.

Marianne - we *will* vote: #greenparty. Because handing evil which takes hostages (centrist Dems threatening a 2nd Trump term) a mandate is a recipe for disaster. * It leaves the nation in the hands of that evil * And rewards their actions, thus ensuring it will happen forever.

We are not going to change the party from the inside it is very evident. If GenX and younger started voting third party what landslide victories we would have.

We didn’t defect last time. That’s why we must this time and in historic fashion.

I have much love & respect for you, but strongly disagree. Not advocating not voting, but at some point, must say no to Dems. It was their gameplan to elevate Trump & to rig a primary 2x in row. I voted for Gore, when Bush was THE unique threat &:
Remember when BUSH was the SCARY MONSTER, so you had to suck up & vote estbmnt D? Then, Ds stood by SCOTUS Coup w/out extracting political price, voted for his Iraq war, took impeachment off the table, PBO used OUR majority to make his tax cuts perm & now publicly do this:

Conflating not voting with voting third party is an extremely bad faith argument. Not voting doesn't change anything with electoral politics. Voting third party could even win if enough people voted for a third party.

Its not about the lesson. Its about their power. Losing diminishes power.
