Having a hard time understanding this take. If you don’t currently have a job, and this legislation will pay you to learn a skill so you can GET a job in the future, post pandemic, what is wrong with that?

Even under the best of circumstances job training programs have unfortunately proven not to be very successful.. People are trained to do jobs but that of itself doesn’t need more jobs are available. Especially now, it’s pretty nuts given that people need money just to survive.

Government retraining programs have a historical success rate of 0-15%. That means 85-100% waste. It’s a garbage policy. Direct Cash has nearly 100% benefit the recipient. Means tested programs are excellent at not delivering the intended benefit to all. amp.theatlantic.com/amp/arti…
