Traditional politicians think people are so self-interested all they care about is how a particular policy affects them. Visionary politics speaks to the part of you that cares about your country; you’re smart enough to know that what undermines its principles will undermine you.

People think the state of our world is all about money. That's in part, true. However, the Truth has been severed over decades of disengaging empathy ("toughen up".) We must touch each other. We must feel. And we must love. Even during our own pain.

It's a big reason why I couldn't vote for Trump. He has conned and scammed so many people throughout his life, I figure sooner or later he would come for me. I can't understand how Trump supporters never consider that.

I have to disagree with this take. Look at how many trump supporters are cheering on policies that will hurt their chances of doing better but benefit the rich and corporations. The level of wilful ignorance just to “own” the opposition is maddening.
