These one-time payments don’t allow anyone to relax even if they take some of the edge off. What don’t these people understand about $2k a month for as long as it lasts? Our govt is so miserly to the average American and so generous to the rich ones.
US House Democratic leaders are pushing for another round of stimulus payments of up to $1,200 per person in new coronavirus relief legislation that's headed for a vote on Friday. nbcnews.to/3brOV3w

The media made you out to be something you were not during the Debates! Almost like you were a mystical illusion! Your ideas are so practical and solution oriented! No one talks about Love in Politics! It's refreshing, especially with the current state of the world!

Yeah. “New Age crystal wacko nutcase lady” said over and over and over and over again was an interesting counterinsurgency strategy.

And where exactly do you think the $2k per person in the US so approximately $656 billion every month is going to come from? Do you not realize that the government will get its money back by raising taxes on everything after this is over?

Start by repealing ‘17 $2T tax cut, where $.83 of every $ went to richest corporations &individuals (put back the middle class cut). Some call that raising taxes, but it’s just stopping a bleed created by taxes having been lowered that should never have been lowered to begin with.

They are appeasing the masses with the extra $600/week unemployment. A lot of W2 people are making more than they were. That is keeping the worker bees happy and sit by and watch the corporate takeover of small businesses. As long as they can still order what they need on amazon

The $1,200 comes out to making a minimum wage of $7.25 an hour for one month. Regrettably, this appears to be a direct reflection of the value that our elected officials have placed on the average American. Meanwhile, the U.K. is paying up to $2,500 per month-per working adult.

Ah yes, the constitution says you can tax me more than 50% so other people can enjoy the "right" to relaxation.

Marianne is right on point. $1,200 is nice but for the (originally 40% but now who knows how many) struggling, it means paying the yearly car insurance or even the car repair.
