1/ Imagine a single mother living in a small apartment with two kids. One of them has a behavioral or physical disorder. She’s ineligible for unemployment and she doesn’t know where they’ll get food in a week or two. And remember there are millions in her situation and even worse

2/ As the days drag on she finds it harder & harder to cope. She starts screaming at the kids, crying uncontrollably & having panic attacks. The system that has failed her now has the audacity to say the problem is with her mental health. But no it's not. The problem is with us.

3/ Love isn't the only face of God. So is Justice. To say we should love a hungry person is not enough; we also need to feed them. Our problem is not just the myriad societal dysfunctions that plague us; our biggest problem is the economic injustice that created so many of them.

4/ Such are the things we should think about now. We need to imagine, articulate and plan for the society we'll have to build on the other side of this. As soon as the crisis is over we need to hit the ground running. We need to be imaginal cells out of which will emerge the new.

If she was working prior to the shelter at home she is eligible for unemployment. Every one who filed taxes got a stimulous check and she will get extra per child. If she's on unemployment she should also be getting the additional 600. Per week. I don't get why she's not on UE.

TY so much for speaking for the vulnerable. These are the people I think about all the time. I have a blessed life but my mom raised me mostly on her own and it wasn’t easy for us. IDK how we would have gotten through something like this ❤️
