The answer is not to reopen the economy; it's to freeze the economy. The government should provide everyone with the economic wherewithal to survive this period without leaving home. It's criminal to make people have to choose between their livelihood and their health.

Thank you for your leadership. Deaths are going up & will skyrocket this fall if states reopen & abandon #socialdistancing now. Just like 1918 flu pandemic. 675,000 died, says the CDC website. We must stay the course and pay people to stay home & weather this storm.

As with many things, it’s more complicated than that. I think we’re seeking to find a balance, between “open” and “freeze”. Creating too much money disturbs the overall money supply, leading to inflation. But not enough, and people are starving and clamoring to return to work.
