We’re not just a little bit off; we are really, really far off from ordering our society along principles of sustainability, compassion or even sanity. We regularly sacrifice the good of our people and planet at an altar of delusional economic theory. This is bad but it’s fixable

Who do envision doing the “ordering of society”? Sounds fascist.

Our democratic laws and traditions. That’s the whole point of a representative govt: That the will of the people, not short term corporate profit, should drive public policy. Democracy is the opposite of fascism.

Which laws? Surely not our founding documents, which guarantee property, right to contract and free markets.

You might wanna read those documents again. And study up a little bit on American history.

Our Democracy has been off the rails for some time! Check out “Staying Alive: the 1970s & the Last Days of the Working Class” by J. Cowie. That’s what @marwilliamson is talking about. The working class is getting screwed big time!

The “will of the people,” without constitutional limits, is mob rule.

Oh? How did Mussolini come to power? Fascism is instituted democratically. But it can’t function as fascist wit constitutional limits to check the “will of the majority.”
