3/ Today it’s not enough to be fiercely protective of our own children; we must be fiercely protective of everyone’s kids. Only if we expand the circle of our compassion to include every child will any child stand a reasonable chance of growing up in a peaceful world.

I have a little too much of this when it comes to protecting people I care about, and need to sit on myself to keep from reacting all the time. We've watered this instinct down so much, tho, in society -- and transplanted it with crazy anxieties. How do we get it back, now?

This unhealthy society has undermined these basic human characteristics by depriving lower classes of the ability to build community. Girls learn to mother by watching women mother. This can only happen through shared in person social experiences.
