Conservatives tend to emphasize more of America has done right & progressives tend to emphasize more of what America has done wrong. The higher truth lies in realizing both: loving our ideals and possibilities enough to be brutally honest with ourselves about what has gone wrong.

Sadly while progressives are brutally honest about our past failings they are oblivious of their own antisocial sins that are the root cause of almost all our social pathologies that have little or nothing to do with so called structures of inequality
