When a species becomes maladaptive for its survival, it either mutates and evolves or it goes extinct. That’s what’s happening to us: our collective behavior is maladaptive for our survival. We fight too much & we’re destroying our own habitat. We’ll evolve or we will go extinct.

Indeed well said. And now the planet is taking revenge on us all for destroying it for so long. Suddenly birds, animals etc are reclaiming the planet. While we lockdown they flourish. The question is will people learn a big hard lesson from #Covid_19? If not then we’re doomed

Who’s “we”? Do you mean “y’all” who are comfortable and privileged?

I think we'll be able to adapt well enough to continue our existence on other planets. Adapting psychologically to the point where we don't create unnecessary conflict with eachother is the real obstacle though. That could take another hundred generations.

Not enough time to mutate, unless punctuated equilibrium.

From a gene point of view, mankind is too numerous as a species; the mutations are bred out of existence. Conversely, too few members creates too few mutations, also vanish. One needs an optimum smallish species, ergo humans currently have no chance mutating

"We" will all die, and something else will remain. As it ever was.
