People of color dying from COVID at disproportionate rates should surprise no one. “There is something we can learn from this” completely disingenuous; food, environmental justice, educational & healthcare disparities all stem from old economic disparities. CASE FOR REPARATIONS

What do you mean by reparations? You are continuing the problem by just throwing money at these people. They want change through better jobs, more opportunities and better healthcare. You dont get proper change by funneling money through a government that cant work for itself.

“Just throwing money at these people;” such languaging of the issue an example of the problem. A continuation of the same paternalism to say what “they” want & how “we” think we can fix them. Morally correct to simply pay a debt that’s owed; then “they” can decide how to do that.

I understand that there are issues within minority communities that we must address, but I just have a different view on solving the problem. Getting the government involved through reparations by using taxpayer dollars is inadequate and unjust and defeats the purpose...

We are merely pushing the problem down the road by passing reparations because in all honesty our political system would deem the problem solved. We must enact strong change by building grassroot organizations within poor communities spear headed by private investments and some..

government funds to help improve the communities. This is an effort to fix the problems indefinitely and beaurcrats have prolonged this problem long enough. African Americans are people too, and through reparations, we are pushing them down more than helping them up.

If you owe me $1000, you’re not “pushing me down” by paying it to me.
