People of color dying from COVID at disproportionate rates should surprise no one. “There is something we can learn from this” completely disingenuous; food, environmental justice, educational & healthcare disparities all stem from old economic disparities. CASE FOR REPARATIONS

Do this tweet again and replace the PEOPLE OF COLOR phrase with BLACK AMERICANS. No one else under that broad name y’all are forcing on us are entitled to reparations. Do better Marianne.

The Navajo Nation is suffering terribly and unjustly from COVID too. Reparative measures in response to history of genocide are also important, in addition to reparations for slavery. Not either/or. Both issues on full display now.

But to combine the two as if our plights and history are the same is disingenuous to me. Especially since you ran on a campaign for reparations for Descendants of American Slavery so heavily. Not once at a debate did you speak about Indigenous People. But now we’re all POC smh.

You're very open and engaging on this subject. More should be. Thank you.

Help natives expose how the Dawes Rolls allowed whites to steal native justice claims. #ADOS🇺🇸 will no longer be the mules for everyone else’s struggles while our oppression remains institutionalized. There’s neglect of natives, but media campaigns to dehumanize black Americans.

I think your original tweet was fine. Both black and Indigenous Americans are suffering disproportionately (as are Latinos) and your phrasing holds space for that. Thank you for all that you do to highlight these structural inequalities.
