If you’ve made it into the club in America - if you’re within the circle of institutional compassion either through luck or finance - then no place could be better. The critical problem in America today is that not enough people can make it into the club. Not enough get a chance.

More people have been lifted out of poverty and “joined the club” under our system better than any system in history. Countries that adopted our system even partially, has done the same. The “Club” has of history of a range of people moving in and out of it

60% of Americans can't handle a $400 emergency. That is NOT being in the club.

Exactly. And that was true (40% at least) even before the pandemic. So the day when the $400 unexpected expenditure was necessary has now come and gone; that’s why we’re in such a crisis & why the govt’s response is so inadequate. The club is bailing out itself first!

Oh brother... it’s that kind of thinking that is amazing to me. Put money away before an emergency... bs learning one should’ve done it due to an emergency. Stop throwing money away. Develo a plan in the good times. The grasshopper and the ant story is basic.
Exactly. This is always the game under capitalism. The point is to accrue wealth and influence in the hands of the few. Disaster Capitalism is flourishing right now while people are dying.
