The most vile and insidious obstruction to America’s forward movement over the last few decades is how certain forces have convinced millions of Americans that expecting and accepting less, even to the point of their desperation and death, is somehow the patriotic thing to do.

Diminished expectation. My whole life. If you never expect anything you will never be disappointed.

The two party system keeps people in a false competition with each other. We are a lonely nation and people will do most anything to belong and see the other as enemy. We’ve bought this hook line and sinker.

What’s more American than working yourself to death?

It's like when a domestic abuser convinces his victim that the reason they abuse them is because they had it coming, and they should just be grateful to be alive.

Let's not sugarcoat the reason why these people are willing to accept less. It's because they were promised it would keep even less fortunate Black and Brown people out of their country/ neighborhoods. This is also not a recent phenomena. Way past time for America to wake up.

Like certain forces convincing people that vitamins don't work. We need them to live, get them from the food we eat but they aren't necessary. People will believe anything they're told.

Expecting doctors, nurses, cleaners, MTA workers risk their lives and work without PPE and instead giving them "thanks" is the most neoliberal, selfish, ignorant, self-congratulatory thing ever.
