They didn’t have a democracy yet. They didn’t have a constitution yet. They created those for us so that we could avoid and get rid of tyrants without ever having to resort to violence.

Yes we do. It’s a damaged one, but we still have one. And those who broke it would like nothing better than for you to think that we don’t have one, because then you think there’s nothing worth fighting for.

It was never not damaged, which means it was always incomplete; bourgeois democracy is such by its nature, and the problem you're describing is capitalism.
