This is the coming-of-age event no one saw coming. It’ll be hard to retain a politically immature perspective after this, to assume we’re protected from any manner of other disastrous possibilities either. From nuclear safety to environmental safety it’s time for a whole new way.

For years we’ve been whittling away at public investments in things that provide public safety. Creating short term corporate profit superseded long term protection of the common good; public safety has been sacrificed at the altar of corporate gain. This will stop if we stop it.

We might like to begin by learning from Germany. A community based company structure that focuses on long term employment and social security for all. They don’t throw employees on the scrap heap at the drop of a hat. They look after them.
