When a species acts in a way maladaptive to its survival, it either mutates or it goes extinct. Evolution 101. Humanity's collective behavior is now maladaptive for our survival. We'll either mutate from an economically to a humanitarian driven species, or we too will go extinct.

We need to create public policy (food and housing are examples) guided by humanitarian principle. Because of the under influence of money on our political system, our guiding principle now is short term corporate profit. It should instead be whatever helps people thrive.

We can do both. It’s an individual choice to be mindful and humanitarian ,but we still need to pay our way. Remember .. the people with the most have been very philanthropic.. even if it is financially better for them to do so.
