This pandemic could have been anything. It could have been a bio-weaponry disaster or nuclear disaster or weather disaster or food disaster. When this is over, we must change our national priorities from short term gain for a few to the long-term well-being of everyone.

We will never have a good response so long as capitalism exists.

The problem isn’t inherit in capitalism. Starting in the 1980s American capitalism became untethered to a sense of ethical or moral responsibility to people or planet, then govt became its handmaiden. Both now need a moral course-correction before predatory capitalism destroys us

But capitalism always ends up being predatory. I mean, Marx called that one over 100 years ago. Predatory is what capitalism IS - it's the goal of capitalism - to get enough money to control the system. I think you're great, by the way. Awesome you replied to me!

Capitalism is about condensing capital. We need a different system, think: @TheNextSystem Project. Collective ownership, democratically managed in a wide variety of scales.

American capitalism started with slavery so it's fair to say it was never tethered to ethics or morals.

The problem is ABSOLUTELY capitalism. And socialism, too. All of our historical economic frameworks are predicated on perpetual growth in consumption. C'mon, Marianne, think bigger. You're one of the only people who can. PLEASE?!?

Capitalism always wants to grow and always wants more. I don’t think our planet was built for that.
