Do we want a country that’s prepared to weather a storm? Then we’re going to have to go back to the days when public investment was seen as a good thing. Starting in the 1980s, government was demonized by the radical Right so corporate power could be exalted. Time to change that.

Democracy has been tainted by money. But this Trump presidency is moving a groundswell against all that. The office of the presidency will change bc of him and his ways. True democracy will be returning. Maybe not in next cycle, but...anything’s possible.

The problem is that government "public investment" is typically soft corruption. Patronage for their buddies. Officials move right into cushy jobs with firms they were supposed to regulate. That's why in the pre-Civil War era, most states had amendments against public works.

Yes, I’ve said for years, “We govern ourselves. Hating the government means denying and eroding the power we have to create the country we want.”

Even THEY believe in government for emergencies, just for bailouts for them! For the rest of us, it’s self-reliance and bootstraps! People need to wake up. It’s all just sophistry, euphemism, and manipulation. We can’t keep falling for it!
