I understand Trump’s consciousness. Not news to anyone. But what about the people around him? Has no one been begging, demanding that he use his power over the last few weeks? Is their obsession with not disturbing private industry so great that they’re willing to let people die?

Not true at all. The Defense Production Act gave him the executive power to do what was needed. People EXPECT that at a time of national emergency.

The private sector cannot act quickly enough. Obviously!!! This is not something that should be left to a voluntary basis, for God’s sake. It should have been full industrial and manufacturing mobilization, no different than if we were at war. Because we are.
