Politics that lacks a moral dimension can never solve society’s problem because it doesn’t address its origin. When capitalism disconnected from its ethical center, permitted to operate along strictly amoral lines, humanity became vulnerable in ways we had never been before.

“Nothing is happening today that is all that new. It’s all that same stuff, it’s just the aristocratic paradigm in whatever way it presents itself, coming back around again— ‘We’re entitled. Your’re not.”

I hate to disagree with @marwilliamson, but she's presuming Capitalism EVER had an ethical center. As an amateur historian I cannot say it ever had. Take child labor, millions marched & suffered to force government to pass laws against it. And then elites pretended it was a gift.

I wonder who your preachy diatribe is supposed to help? There is a lot I like about where you are coming from but the only one served by your tweet diarrhea is yourself. IMO

Bad take. The origin of society's problem isn't immorality in politics, it's noncompliance w/ the law (assuming we have good laws) & being irresponsible generally. The purpose of govt is to properly balance harm to its citizens with freedom for its citizens. Morals is separate.

When in the history of politics has it ever had a moral dimension?

Capitalism isn't ethical. True capitalism is concerned with the accumulation of wealth. The person with the most wins. That's why it needs to be regulated. Since 1981, the dismantling of regulations released the beast we have now.
