The president could absolutely direct industries now to manufacture masks, respirators, ventilators etc on an emergency basis. For whatever reason he is choosing not to do it.

You think it's that easy he just directs private manufacturers to do his bidding? He's invoked the DPA. His people are working the problem. It's easy to just imagine you can conjure masks into existence.

The lack of adequate medical protection is in such short supply at our local hospital- They are reaching out to the public to stop by and drop hand sanitizer, gloves, masks, etc. outside the entrance. If this doesn’t scream lack of presidential leadership,I’m not sure what does.

He's hoping that lots of old and poor people die to lower the budgets for Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.

Have you ever read Atlas Shrugged? It isn't as simple as ordering private companies to increase production. They have to actually have the capacity to increase production. Otherwise, people die in the tunnel. It is far better to work with companies on an individual basis.
